This ornamental patent design for The Blue Flame rocket powered car was issued to The Institute of Gas Technology of Chicago on April 17, 1973. In 1970 The Blue Flame set the world land speed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah, reaching a speed of 630.388 mph. The record held for 27 years. The Blue Flame was built by Reaction Dynamics, but received technical assistance from The Institute of Gas Technology.
